Designated gifts are single or multi-year gifts given to support specific goals, programs, and projects identified by the Board of Trustees in the School's Strategic Plan.
Above and beyond Westtown's need for yearly operating support is its need to plan and provide for the School's long-term sustainability. This requires additional gifts for increased endowment and campus improvements. These needs can only be met by those who make capital gifts in addition to their Westtown Fund gifts.
In 2004, Westtown reached its $13 million Bicentennial campaign goal. The funds raised were used to expand the Lower School; renovate the main building classrooms, dorms and faculty apartments; expand Stone House; build Balderston Commons; and air condition the dining room and library. 2007 saw the opening of the new Athletic Center; its $10 million cost was raised by the Athletic Facilities Initiative. It is only through the many generous gifts from our supporters that such improvements to our program are possible.
Currently the School is engaged in ongoing work as identified in the strategic plan toward increasing the endowment to support financial aid and faculty compensation, and for improvements to the science center, performing arts center and community areas. For questions about these initiatives, please contact Ellen Cryer Gilbert '76, Director of Advancement at (610)-399-7915 or at firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
There are many ways to support Westtown in its mission to provide its students an excellent education that inspires and prepares its graduates to be stewards and leaders of a better world. Please join us by giving your gifts of time and financial support. Your investment today will pay rich dividends in the future of our students and the world we live in.
